About The Project

Tunnel Vision installation by Sprankenstein, artist, animator, explores the hidden history of subterranean London, and speculates on the city’s future. Through a series of meetings and discussions, the artist took inspiration from the work carried out by engineers from Mott MacDonald, Buro Happold, and research carried out at Imperial College, London South Bank University, and Cullinan Studio.

Sprankenstein’s installations combine technology with animation to bring ideas to life. She has created a large-scale tunnel for an immersive experience, taking us on a journey from Victorian London, through to a dystopian vision of the future in 2050.

This imagining of London below ground is a vivid and high impact interpretation, filled with imitation fatbergs, groups of London bricks, and oscilloscope animations projected across the spaces.

Tunnel Vision was held at Resort Studios, Margate, and was open to visitors with ticketed time slots during Margate Festival 2020.
